| The bring-upping of urban complex ecosystem has built a bridge for the infiltration from ecology theories to sociology and urban planning. Niche, as one of the most important theories of ecology, has the widespread directing meaning in the study of human ecosystem, and preferably interprets the phenomenon such as competition, evolvement in the city's different function modules. The paper tries to introduce niche theory into the study of urban different function modules'development, and discusses the rules of niche pattern change of different function modules in Kaifeng city, and analyses the reason of it's change.Because the data before reform and opening is limited, this paper only gives a qualitative analysis, and finds that the niche of different function modules in Kaifeng city changes in different degrees with the development of history. The reason contains the natural and man-made, but the basic reason is human behavior which is unsuitable to the order of the nature, and"mankind's exceeding the nature"is the real source of a series of problem of the Yellow River downstream include Kaifeng city.After the reform and opening, especially in recent 10 years, this paper analyses the niche change of different function modules in Kaifeng city quantitatively through collecting the data of nature, economy and society of Kaifeng city. The results are showed that: (1) The atmosphere niche and urban virescence niche had an increase, but the water niche and sound niche had a downtrend from 1994 to 2003 in the natural environment system of Kaifeng city. (2) Tertiary industry niche went up, and Secondary industry niche came down, but Primary industry niche had a little change from 1994 to 2003 in the economy system of Kaifeng city.
