In this paper,the near infrared luminescence and up-conversion luminescence properties of Er3+, Er3+:Yb3+, Er3+:Ce3+ doped silica glasses by sol-gel technology and the influence of K+and Al3+ on optical properties of Er3+doped aluminium silica , calium aluminium silica glasses have been studied respectively. The main contents and important results of this paper are as follow.Er3+doped silica and (calium) aluminium silica glasses and Er3+:Yb3+, Er3+:Ce3+ doped silica glasses were synthesized by sol-gel route. And the TG-DTA and XRD spectra were measured and found that the glassy phase is amorphous nature. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is no chance of forming crystalline phase up to 1000℃sintering.Weak emission at near infrared (1536nm) and visible range were observed in Er3+-doped silica glasses under excitation of 377nm and 980nm. And the proper concentration of doped Er3+is 0.5mol% in silica glass, which is attributed to the strong cross-relaxation among Er3+ ions, and dues to concentration quenching of luminescence. And all samples only have an up-conversion luminescence (654nm) with excitation of 980nm。In Er3+:Yb3+ co-doped silica glasses, we observed the increase of Er3+ ions'absorption of pumping light through the sensitization of Yb3+ at excitation of 980nm. As a result, the intensity of up-conversion luminescence in visible range and the near infrared luminescence were both enhanced.In Er3+ :Ce3+ co-doped glasses,Ce3+ ions accelerated the relaxation of 4I11/2→4I13/2 of Er3+ ions,enhanced the probability of 4I13/2→4I15/2.,which increased the...
