| The world has entered into the 21st century, a period with thriving development and advanced science and technology. However, the existence and the development of human himself is being threatened by the ecological crisis in modern society, which is mainly reflected in the imbalance of relationship between human and nature, and the losing of the true meaning of human. In light of the deterioration of the relationship between human and nature which was caused by human's ignorance of the ecological law, with the development of modern philosophy and ethics, this thesis proposes the concept—the inherent value of ecological environment. This theory plays an important role in properly evaluating the inherent value of ecological environment, re-establishing the human's value system, recognizing the significance of ecological environment for human's existence and development, working out suitable ecological environment protection policy, scientifically harnessing ecological resources, and solving the problem of human's existence crisis.Based on the Marxist practice theory, in view of the Marxist ecology theory and Marxist value theory, and with the reference to the inherent value in ecological ethics, this thesis analyzes the natural basis for the inherent value of ecological environment with the purpose of establishing proper natural value theory from a point of view which is completely different from the traditional one. The thesis emphasizes that the nature has not only the tool value, but also their own value—inherent value, which is a breakthrough in the traditional value system that nature serves human and it is only human who has inherent value. In this way, the thesis aims at arousing the consciousness that we should protect environment not only out of the realization of its tool value, but also out of the respect for its inherent and independent value, and the respect for the inherent value of ecological environment is identical to maintaining human's benefit.
