A series of aluminum, zinc and nickel complexes, which derived from the linked bis(p-diketimine) ligands R[NHC(CH3)CHC(CH3)NAr]2 (Ar= 2,6-(CH3)2C6H3, R = 1,2-(CH2)2, 1; Ar= 2,6-(CH3)2C6H3, R = 1,3-(CH2)3, 2; At = 2,6-i-Pr2C6H3, R = 1,2-(CH2)2, 3; Ar= 2,6-i-Pr2C6H3, R= 1,3-(CH2)3, 4; Ar = 2,6-(CH3)2C6H3, R= p-C6H4, 5 ), were synthesized. Compound 1 and 5 were reacted with excess A1(CH3)3 to give bimetallic dimethylaluminum complexesR[{NC(CH3)CHC(CH3)NAr}Al(CH3)2]2 ( Ar = 2,6-(CH3)2C6H3, R = 1,2-(CH2)2 , 6; Ar= 2,6-(CH3)2C6H3, R= p-C6H4 , 7, respectively). Ligand 4 was deprotonated by 2 equiv of n-BuLi, and the resulting solution was allowed to react with 2 equiv of A1C13, affording the dichloroaluminum complex R[{NC(CH3)CHC(CH3)NAr}AlCl2]2 (Ar = 2,6-i-Pr2C6H3, R= 1,3-(CH2)3, 8). The reaction of the ligand 2 with excess ZnEt2 in refluxing toluene for 3 h resulted in...
