The biodesulfurization technology(BDS) of coal combined the strongpoins of biological method and physical method. owing to having the virtues of low craftwork cost, little energy consumption, simple flow, mild reaction condition and clean circumstance, the biodesulfurization method will have a wide application foreground. In this paper, the research findings and up-to-date research progress in here and abroad were introduced. It pointed out the importance of developing biodesulfurization of coal in our country, and summarized the problems in the recent research. Furthermore, the developing trends of the technology were discussed in the end.A strain TFD-9 which was able to degrade sulfur in coal was isolated from the soil in a coal mine and identified as Thiobacillus ferrooxidans. Through incubating under different conditions such as temperature, pH and the concentration of Fe2+, the optimum growth conditions of TFD-9 were obtained. The influence of different nitrogen sources and sulfur sources to growth and activeness of this strain as well as desulfurisation of coal were also studied. The results showed the optimum process conditions of coal biodesulfurization that when proper temperature, pH and substrate concentration were 30℃, pH 2.0 and 9g/L, and the coal particle size was 0.15 millimeter, coal slurry concentration was 10%, oxided time of sulfide in coal in air was 6-day, the desulfurisation test demonstrated that as high as 87.35% of desulfurisation rate of sulfide could be obtained in the period of 20 days by the isolated strain. To prevent of the shotcomings of equipment corrosion caused by strong acid circumstance and long desulfurization time in biodesulfurization, this paper pilot studied the feasibility of application of Phanerochaete chrysosporium which appeal for mild growth condition in coal desulfurization. In order to find the characteristic of desulfurizatin by Phanerochaete chrysosporium, a series of separate experiments were carred out at different surfactant concentration, carbon source kinds and concentration, pH, spore concentration and coal slurry concentration in coal desulfurization by Phanerochaete chrysosporium BKMF-1767. It can be concluded that domestic strain BKMF-1767 was provided with favorable capability of...
