In the producing process of many workshops, old manual selection method is always used. With this method, real-time tool information isn't able to be acquired, which makes the NC tool selection scheme not accord with the producing condition, and producing efficiency will be influenced seriously. As the result of the lack of effective management of application system and existing tool information, many application systems are independent and data of each department are not shared. In a certain extent, this situation also makes the waste of manpower and material resources. Under usual condition, using the manual selection method will waste a lot of time and make probability of re-selection heighten. In the course of whole selection, selection work requires selection workers who must have rich selection experiences, which makes manual selection method possess limitation. So the manual selection method isn't fit to the needs of information management and information processing, and developing a NC tool selection system which is fit to enterprise development is necessary for the enterprise competitiveness.On the basis of correlative technology research of system development, this paper develops the NC tool selection system under the environment of web, which can realize the consistency control and management of enterprise data and make the tool selection workers know real-time tool information. In the process of the NC tool selection realization, basic principle of expert system is applied to make the NC tool selection more conveniently and simply. This paper also introduces the design methods of fact base, rule base and reasoning machine design method of NC tool selection system, and establishes NC tool selection model based on expert system.
