With the development of the nano technology, researchers were interested in the electrospinning. Electrospinning is a new spinning method that is different from the dry-spinning and melt-spinning. Ultra fine fibers (from nanometers to micrometers) were obtained with electrospinning. These fibers have very high special surface areas and high ratios of surface areas to volumes. The nano-scale fiber non-woven mats produced by electrospinning can be used as tissue technology materials, filter films and nano composite materials.Firstly, we studied and deeply understood the theory of electrospinning. Then, nylon 6- formic acid solution was electrospun into nylon 6 nano-fiber mats with home made electrospinning device. Meanwhile, the relationships between the spinning parameters and diameters and morphologies of electrospun nylon 6 fibers were investigated, and the mechanical properties of electrospun nylon 6 fiber mats were measured and analyzed. The results revealed that the diameters of electropun nylon 6 fibers increased with the concentration of spinning solution and first increased then decreased with the voltage. The crystallity of this fiber fluctuated with the increase of voltage and decreased with the C-SD. However, the solution concentration almost had no effect on the fiber crystallity. The electropinning parameters (voltage, concentration and C-SD) influenced the mechanical properties of electrospun nylon 6 fiber mats. With increase of the solution concentration, the breaking stress and strain of the mat became large. The effect of C-SD was contrary. The nylon 6 fiber mat electrospun on the high voltage had low elongation but high strength.
