The emission of nitric oxides from flue gas got more and more, the pollution to the environment was getting more serious, proper measures could be taken to reduce the harm to the people and environment. The SCR technology was applied in many power plants, some researches had been carried out by the way of activated carbon adsorption, but further studies should be taken out. It could be seen as SCR technology in low temperature, for the purpose of industrial application, the disadvantage of denitration by activated carbon should be solved. In order to change the capacity of denitration, the influenced factors on the denitration must be investigated. In this paper, the modified activated carbons treating with three reagents were chosen, the chemical properties were analyzed by different ways, the denitration with modified activated carbon on the fixed bed reactor was taken out, the influence of reacting conditions on the denitration and the mechanism of denitration were studied. The purpose for this study was changing the capacity of denitration with different methods, studying the ways of improving the denitration capacity in laboratory and building the basement for industrial application of activated carbons. The denitration efficiency of activated carbon adsorption was not high, the denitration capacity should be improved. The coal based activated carbons with diameter of 9mm were selected, and it was modified with HNO3, H2SO4 and KOH, the basic properties of the modified activated carbons were tested according to the GB. The results showed that the ash, bulk density and MS intensity of the acid oxidized samples were decreased, the opposite of the alkali treating samples. The iodine value and pore content of AC-N was increased. The pore structure of the samples was analyzed by BET adsorption method and DFT theory. The results indicated that the isotherms of the samples were belonged to type I, the micropore content was high. The average of the samples was around 2nm, the pore distribution of AC-N was different from others, and the special surface area and pore volume was increased. The chemical properties of the modified activated carbons were changed, it was analyzed by SEM, FTIR, TG, XPS, pHPZC, ξ potential and ESR. The structure was changed after modification according to the results of SEM. The oxygen functional groups such as C-O, C=O and O=C-O were found on the surface by FTIR and TG The result of XPS showed the O/C was increased, the increasing of C-O in AC-N was higher than C=O and O=C-O. The pHpzc of acid oxidized samples was lower than 7, and the alkali treating...
