The focus of this paper is how to enhance the measuring accuracy of CNC gear measuring machine. Some researches have been done on the main aspects of error compensation which include error analysis of MBS, the modeling of geometric error of CNC gear measure machine, the measurements of gear geometric error, radius offset of instrument head and error compensation by soft-ware in this paper and the works have also been verified through a series of simulation tests.(1)According to the movement situations of MBS, error vectors and error matrixes which relate to the kinematic reference coordinate system were used and the geometric method for describing the kinematic errors of MBS was built based on the basic theory of MBS. Through this geometric method, the normal expressions of the position equation, the gesture equation, the movement equation, the position error equation, the movement error equation of MBS have been built at the real condition, which established a theoretical foundation for the modeling of the geometric kinematic error of CNC gear measure machine.(2)The modeling of the geometric kinematic error of CNC gear measure machine is one of the most important problem of the structural designing and accuracy analysis and error compensation of CNC gear measure machine. Based on the kinematic error analysis theory of MBS the kinematic error of gear measure machine has been analyzed. Taking 3920 gear measure machine as an example, described its geometric structure, analyzed the 27 geometric kinematic error parameter of it, built its kinematic error model, and established the exact measuring equation and ideal measuring equation. This work laid a good foundation for the error compensation of CNC gear measure machine and simulation tests by software.(3)The way of radius offset of instrument head is one of the most critical technologies for those CNC gear measure machines used of contacting measurement.
