This paper introduces the present research situation in enhancing heat transfer technologies of heat exchanger. At the same time, the construction of inserted spring element and the operating principle in automatically removing and preventing fouling and enhancing heat transfer are introduced.Firstly, eighteen springs with different construction parameter are designed to the experiment for investigating the rotation performance, flow characteristics of heat exchanger tube with rotary spring inserted and nine springs with different construction parameter are designed to the experiment for investigating heat transfer characteristics of heat exchanger tube with rotary spring inserted. The results of the experiments show that the relation between the velocity of flow and the rotational speed of the rotary spring is approximating linear, the flow and heat transfer characteristics of heat exchanger tube have relations with the construction parameter of the rotary spring, besides with the stream pattern. And then a mean that ascertains the relating equation of the convection friction factors and heat transfer coefficient in the heat exchanger tube with Matlab nonlinear regress and Wilson method is brought forward. The heat transfer experiments show that the total heat transfer coefficient K is increased when the rotary spring is inserted in the heat exchange tube in the same Reynolds number, and the increasing ratio of the total heat transfer coefficient is between 3.17 % -42.05% and the friction factors is a multiple of 1.52-4.46. the value of φis 0.84-1.51. when 10~4
