Design and synthesis of complexes with catalytic, magnetic, optical functions is a hot topic of coordination chemistry, which is also very significant. This work aimed to design and synthesize the complexes with catalytic function, which can be used to polymerization of lactide. Polylactatic acid (PLA) is an important derivant of lactatic acid and has bioconsistent and biodegradable, and can be degraded as carbon dioxide and water gradually in the organism. PLA is not toxic and accumulating effect on human beings. So it is regarded as the most potential biodegradable material in 21st Century. Selecting the catalyst for polymerization of lactide is the focus of studies on polymerization of lactide. The thesis divided into two parts. 1) Synthesis and structures of a series of Mannich base ligands. 2) Synthesis of a series of new complexes .In chapter one background of the thesis was introduced. It was divided into two sections, the first section described the effect of Mannich base on the synthesis of metal complexes, while the second section described the developments of PLA .In chapter two the synthesis and structures of Mannich base ligands was discussed.Five zinc complexes were synthesized and characterized by singnal crystal X- ray diffraction in chapter three. In chapter four, there was a conclusion to the thesis.
