The human history is a reciprocating and co-developing course between humanity and the nature. In the researching of the relationship, philosophy gets its development, and human society evaluates and renovates its development mode. To select which mode and how to realize it, always comes to be the most important problem that puzzled human. From the worship of the nature, assuredness of technology and that man can conquer nature, to the advancing and practicing of the sustainable development, it is a difficult progress which passes through cognition, practice, re-cognition and re-practice, and will also go on forever. From the human existence mode, this paper mainly talks about the cause, content and significance of sustainable development, in order to deepen and promote the comprehension of sustainable development and to actualize it. This paper is divided into five parts:Part one: Development—the basis significance. This part mainly discusses the significance of development. The aim of development is to advance persistently the needs of human in economy and society. It not only emphasizes on the facet of material production, but also the whole aspects of progresses made by human being. Development claims well-being. It is the exertion of human potential, and offers a value seeking to human being.Part two: Seeking—the hard way of human. This part talks about the two development ideas from the time of human naissance. Even in that moment, the first relationship human faced is the relationship between human and nature.
