The Numerical Control Electrochemical Contour Evolution Machining (NC-ECCEM) is a new machining technology based on the combination of Electrochemical Machining (ECM) and Numerical Control techniques, and is mainly applied to machine the parts made of difficult-to-cut metals and with complex shaped surface. The technique is being perfected step by step through many years of studying and lots of experiments. But the many impacts of ECM and the long time of preparation hinder the development and application of ECM.Along with the development of computer technology, the computer simulation is widely applied in various fields. In the manufacture domain, the development cycle of products is shortened greatly and the cost of production is reduced largely with the machining simulation used, which also accelerates the development of advanced manufacturing technology. In this paper the NC-ECCEM of an integrated impeller was taken as example to study the application of machining simulation technology in NC-ECCEM process, to reduce the time of preparation, lower the cost and promote its applicability, and to bring the NC-ECCEM to adapt to the development of advanced manufacturing technology better, to exert the advantages of NC-ECCEM better. The machining technology of integrated impeller is discussed in this paper, the solid models were built using Unigraphics(UG) and the machining motion simulation of NC-ECCEM was achieved via secondary development of UG, to validate the NC code, check the NC track, inspect the gap between the workpiece and cathode, and estimate the interference. The material remove machining simulation was also achieved. Those all provide the basis for the modification of NC code and cathode design, and for machining. The recent experiments confirm the NC code and the design of cathode, jigs and flow field, and the selective parameters further. The experimental results were analyzed, and compared to the simulation results, to evaluate the validity of machining simulation. The problems that encountered in the experiment were solved, and the measurements were given to improve the machining quality and machining technology. The eligible blade was produced.
