Simulating the dispersion of atmospheric pollutant is the effective measures or method for department of environment administration to evaluate the quality of environment air, check and ratify the capacity of atmosphere environment, optimize the position of pollute spot, and so on. With quickening urban industrialization, the sorts and amounts of atmospheric pollutant exhausted into urban air are increasing, Atmospheric dispersion model is getting more and more large, complicated. Those are concerns for departments of environment administration that improving operation efficiency of dispersion model effectively, reflecting status of air quality truly and obviously by the model result and sharing the result. Started from solving the practical problems in environmental management and decision-making, established in the Internet, high performance parallel computation, GIS and other advanced techniques, the paper makes exploratory research on system integration pollutant dispersion model, high performance parallel computing and GIS in the environment of Internet.The paper is consist of five chapters. Chapter 1 sets forth the background and significance, the related research in the high performance parallel computation and GIS applied to environmental models, provides the work in this paper. Chapter 2 analyzes and discusses deeply system and progress of parallel processing technology, atmospheric pollutant dispersion model, necessity, approach and application fields of integrating GIS with the environment model. Chapter 3 based on construction principles, design methods and performance evaluation of parallel algorithm, proposes and realizes the high performance parallel pollutant dispersion model, analyzes several testing results on two high performance computers. Chapter 4 studies mainly techniques of integration GIS, atmospheric pollutant dispersion model with high performance computing and develops system prototype to meet environmental management needs, introduces firstly design and project of visualization system of atmospheric pollutant dispersion based on GIS, then discusses the general design, development environment and function of this integrated system by the atmospheric dispersion model, parallel computation and GIS.
