In this paper, a polymeric body scattering material with transparence and high light scattering was prepared by in-situ polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) in the presence of pre-polymer of styrene (ST). Various conditions related to preparation of PMMA/PS compound light scattering material were explored. The material was characterized by several methods such as FT-IR, GPC, SEM and optical property. The characterization on optical property indicated that transmittance and haze of the polymer could be adjusted by changing content of pre-polymer. Transmittance of the resulting material could >85% and haze could >80%. IR spectrum indicated that the matrix of the light-scattering material was PMMA. The test of molecular weight indicated that the polymeric material had a bimodal molecular weight distribution. The microstructure of the material showed that PS was dispersed homogeneously in matrix PMMA, with particles size similar to, or slightly smaller than the wavelength of visible light.In order to simplify the preparation process and decrease the reactive...
