The preparation craft of Nd:GGG laser ceramics, which will be provided as a novel laser material, has been discussed in this paper.Superfine powder of Nd:GGG laser ceramics has been prepared by Sol-Gel method and co-precipitation method with urea and NH4HCO3 used as precipitant. TG-DTA, XRD, Infrared spectrum, SEM, TEM, Electron diffraction and Electron spectrum have been used to study the properties of the powder. The best technological parameters have been obtained respectively: calcined at 1000℃ for 8h, calcined at 900℃ for 4h and calcined at 1000℃ for 4h. Well-crystallized Nd:GGG powder with even grain size and particle size of 70100nm, 80-110nm and about 120nm have been obtained respectively.Certain degree transparent sintered bodies have been got by sintered at 1600℃ for 5h in vacuum sintering stove with high temperature. XRD analysis has been used to investigate the powders of sintered bodies. The result indicates that the sintered bodies are the pure-phase of GGG SEM analysis has been used to show the section and surface of ceramics. Spectrum analysis has been used to research on the ceramic sintered bodies. Absorption spectra indicates the main peak is at 807nm with width of 8nm, which is beneficial to LD. Fluorescence spectrum shows that the strongest peak is 1061.54nm, which is caused by fluorescence emission of Nd3+ from4F3/2 to 4I11/2.
