Developing NC Grinding Program For Multi-step Side Cutter With Staggered Tooth

According to comparing result from actual production, the imported cutters are better than those made in China obviously on the aspects of precision, lifetime and production efficiency etc., but the reasons of high cost and long repair cycle etc. affect the using of imported cutters largely, improving the quality of national cutters and replacing the imported cutters with them are the urgent requirements on increasing product quality and decreasing production cost.The differences between national cutter and imported cutter are mainly on two aspects. The first one is that the cutting capability is better, and the lifetime of cutter is longer, one cutter can produce about 200 products averagely, while generally one national cutter can produce no more than 60 products, so it is a larger difference. On the other hand, the inspection precision for imported cutter is higher. This paper analyses the differences between imported cutters and national cutters are caused by the differences of process methods for cutter production. Along with the widely using of five axes NC cutter miller, it has the possibility for NC grinding of stepped and staggered sidecutter. For the characteristics of NC machine is that the machining precision is higher, the product quality is stable, and is suitable for machining products with complicate shapes; Machining with NC machine can overcome the deficiency of traditional machining processes, and can solve the problem of improving the quality of national cutters.Milling stepped and staggered sidecutter with five axes NC miller need to relay on the support of software, now the problem is that the relevant special software is not provided with the imported machine.
