Unsaturated acid derivatives belong to the family of important natural products. Due to their wide range biological activities, they have attracted great attention of research. Nowaday, oleic acid, linoleic acid, and palmitic acid have occupied important position in natural product chemistry. Development of new environmental friendly pesticide with these lead compounds has become the focus of this field. So Jatropha curcas L.seed oil which contains fatty acid esters is used as raw materials to produce fatty acid methyl ester.Thses days fatty acid methyl ester is produced by transertification using homogeneous catalysts. Reactions with these catalysts are easy, inexpensive and fast. However, the post-process is complex and produces large amount of waste water; the glycerin is difficult to handle too. Enzyme, an environmental friendly kind of biological catalyst reported by researchers, can catalyze the reaction in mild condition with less amount of methanol. However the disadvantage of using these biological catalysts are poor chemical yield associated with these reactions even after long reaction time. Another disadvantage is that a large amount of enzyme is required for the reaction.In view of the foresaid difficulties mentioned preparation of different kinds of solid catalysts involves production of zeolites such as 4A-zeolite, 5A-zeolite, Y-zeolite, and γ-Al2O3 and metal salts and the metal oxide compounds for the target catalyst preparation. We have found a heterogeneous catalyst with high catalytic activity and high yield involving simple post-processing. To drive the equilibrium to a maximum ester yield above 93%, a 1:10 molar ratio of triglycerides to methanol is needed, and the reaction is catalyzed by solid catalyst 5wt% of the oil. We have found out an easy preparative method for the solid catalyst after the component of the catalyst is confirmed. And also we could establish a relationship between various physical and chemical parameters of the catalyst. This catalyst seems to have great promise in the commercial industry.
