Tundish-cover spheroidizing process was inventived by UK Cast Iron Institute, and was generalized at 84th annual conference of USA Cast Iron Institute in 1980. The process has been popularized abroad already. The commencement of the process in China is not late yet, technique appraisal was implemented in Henan province in 1984, however, for the reason that the quality demand for ductile iron could be obtained by the pour-over process at that time, the problem with ladle cover was not solved and that the quantity of iron liquid was difficult to measure, so the process was not popularized in China. Nowadays, with the industry development the demand for ductile iron quality and the environment protection is stricter more and more, the amelioration of spheroidisation process should be carried out exigently. With the merits of tundish-cover spheroidizing process, the process can be popularized in demastic easily.For every new technics, processing parameter should be optimized in the course of generalization continuously in order to make its applicability more large-scale, including tundish-cover spheroidizing process certainly. In order to generalize the new technics, certain parameters should be optimized. Thereinto, Mg content in nodularizer is one of the more importmant parameters. On the basis of mechanism of Mg and RE in the spheroidization, the effect of Mg in the nodularizer on the production of ductile with Tundish-cover spheroidizing process is studied in this paper, so the best proportion of nodularizer with different iron liquid in tundish-cover spheroidizing process is obtained.Manufacturing facility of cooperation factory and testing instrument are utilized in the examination. On the basis of pour-over spheroidizing process intrinsic, regulate the Mg content in nodularizer within given spheroidizing temperature.
