This dissertation was mainly focused on the determination of ascorbic acid and DL-malic acid using sequential injection analysis combined with chemiluminescence detection and satisfactory results were achieved. The first section of this dissertation concerned the review on chemiluminescence, in which the principle, characteristics, the combination technique of flow injection analysis with chemiluminescence detection and the latest applications of chemiluminescence detection were talked about. The second section of this dissertation described using sequential injection analysis with chemiluminescence detection to determine trace amounts of ascorbic acid in drug formulations. This method was based on the chemiluminescent reaction of ascorbic acid with KMnO4 in HC1 media and HCHO as an enhancer. The linear range was from 1.0×10-9 to 2.0×10-6 mol/L with the detection limit of 5.0×10-10 mol/L (3a). The correlation coefficient of 0.9995 (n=5) and relative standard deviation (RSD) of 1.3% (n=11) were achieved at 1.0×10-7 mol/L of ascorbic acid. This method was successfully used to determine the content of ascorbic acid in tablets and injections and the results was consistent with those of the standard method. The third section was about the primary study of DL-malic acid using sequential injection analysis. The method was based on the chemiluminescence reaction of DL-malic acid with KMnO4 in H2SO4 media. A univariate approach was adopted for the optimization of experimental parameters. A good linear graph could be obtained in the...
