With the market competing gradually pricking up, products are developed in a mode of multiple varieties, small batches, high quality and low cost and renew more and more fast. So the demand of mould is increasing. Traditional mould emerges a shortcoming of the high cost,the long machining-cycle and the bad flexibleness .In order to adapt the trend of economic development, enterprises increase to the research of rapidly making the economic die.Recently Rapid Tooling (RT) gains flying development. As its branch, Arc-spraying Rapid Tooling Manufacturing technology is emphasized by more and more enterprises and research organizations because of its advantages of simple techniques, short period, achievement of mold cavity and fine surface at one time.Investigating Arc-spraying Rapid Tooling by the numbers, we find that performance of spraying metal shell and the backup material influences the employ life of Arc spraying die.Firstly, it analyzes the theory of arc spray, and finds that decreasing granularity of metal particle and enhancing velocity of metal particle can improve the reproducing precision and the employ life of Arc spraying die. So the paper makes use of aerodynamic theory and theory of solid rocket design, renovates the WDP2000-1 arc-spraying gun to Laval spraying gun. According to the result of spraying experiment, grain distribution of the spraying powder of modified gun is more concentrative, finer and more uniform than the spraying powder of conventional arc-spraying gun. The spraying beam of modified gun gets more focus.Secondly, this paper investigates the effect of the process parameters of arc spraying on structure and performance of coatings of arc spraying die making. And respectively educes the best process parameter of two arc-spraying guns.Finally, based on researching the backup material, we design several composite of metal powder reinforced resin. According to the mensurative result of toughness,thermal conductivity and compressed intensity of composite of the metal resin, we select the best formula of metallic powder reinforced epoxy resin.
