Nowadays the mold market is competitive increasingly. More and more industrial products are developing to a multi-species, low-volume, high-quality, low-cost, and product's upgrading gets more and more rapidly,so is the demand quantity. The process design about electric arc spraying to produce steel-based mold is throughout the subject, and it provides a new basis for mold design and manufacturing. Traditional die stamping had many problems such as long periodic, the low level of information sharing,relying on experience in design,difficult to optimize and the high cost of production. In this paper, the focal point is the key technologies of the middle mold - mold ceramic reproduction based on exploring the electric arc spraying and rapid prototype technology design / manufacturing mold steel theory and realization method . This paper comments the status and development trend of the domestic and international rapid tooling process design.This paper analysis some modeling process technical problems and develop solutions accordingly. Through computer-aided design CAD and CAM mapping three-dimensional model of mold, designing convexity modulus size, and then depending on the production of digital-analog RP matrix, and silicone rubber molds reproduction,finally forming steel-based impression in ceramic mold by electric arc spraying.Through contrastive experiment, Al2O3 ceramic of 47μm has been ensured to make use of raw and processed materials. Through freezing test, the influence of silicon gel on type surface quality and surface defect of ceramic type is analyzed. Through sintering experiment, the adhesive property of the silicon gel in ceramic type is tested. Through spray experiment, it has been proved that the rigidity, wear of 4Cr13 has satisfied the mould and the arc spraying is a reasonable method for manufacturing steel mould, which can obviously cut down the period and cost of manufacturing steel mould.
