Starch is a kind of polysaccharide made up of many structure units ofα-D-dextrose. It is a environmental friendly, reproducible resource and a endless, low-cost organic material. Comparing with petroleum and coal, the industrialized exploitation, application and continuable development of starch has increasingly become the world's focus. Starch can be modified by physical, chemical and biologic degradation methods and be used in various fields. In this paper, solid starch is oxidized directly with the oxidation system of two elements and the optimum conditions can be got by orthogonal experiments. The carboxyl, carbonyl contents and reaction capability of the solid activated starch have been analyzed by different modern techniques. The results indicate that the optimum conditions to obtain the maximal carboxyl content is: pH=9.0,the amount of oxidation element I 4% and oxidation element II 0.5%, the temperature 50℃,the time 3 h; the optimum conditions to obtain the maximal carbonyl content is: pH=3.0, the amount of oxidation element I 8% and oxidation element II 0.5%, the temperature 50℃,the time 1.5 h. It is also found that the solid activated starch isn't gelled, the congeries is biggish, so the activated group is lesser, and the reaction with glutin is weak. The nitrogen content of reaction product SF-I of the solid activated starch and glutin is merely 0.118%. SF-I and six other filling agents are applied in the filling process, SF-I can produce thickening and compactness effect, which shows the basic property as filling agent. At the same time, elasticity, tearing strength, tensile strength, resistance to dry rub fastness and uniformly dyeing of leather are also relative nice. But the penetration of SF-I is not so good which would...
