With the widely using of semiconductor photocatalysis in environment protecting, nanometer TiO2 was detailed studied due to its excellent photocatalytic property. To meet the initial study of high efficiency photoreactor, we dedicate to the synthesis of TiO2 film with optical fiber by Liquid Phase Deposition and wish to obtain well-combined, stable films which can deal with both organic and some inorganic contaminations.Crystalline TiO2 thin films were coated on silica glass fibers by liquid phase deposition from aqueous solution of ammonium hexafluorotitanate at low temperature. TiO2 thin films and nano-powders were prepared by adding H3BO3 into an (NH4)2TiF6 solution supersaturated with anatase nano-crystalline TiO2 at 40℃. This paper study the influences of the anatase nano-crystalline TiO2 to the TiO2 deposition. The adding of anatase nano-crystalline TiO2 to the deposition solution accelerates the depositing of TiO2 articles from the deposition solution on the silica glass fiber. A well-combined and durable TiO2 thin film on silica glass fibers surface obtained by controlling the deposition temperature, deposition time, deposition cycles, concentration of the deposition solution, relative concentration of the deposition materials, pH value of the deposition solution. The effect of the deposition conditions, the drying conditions and the annealing treatment conditions on the surface morphology, section morphology, growth patterns, thickness of the deposited TiO2 thin films were investigated. Growth rate and particle size of the thin films were controlled by the deposition conditions. As a result, a well-combined and durable TiO2 thin films on silica glass fibers surface obtained under definite optimizing experimental conditions and parameters.
