Burr is one of the most common phenomenons in the metal cutting process, which also does a bad contribution to cutting quality, assembling and application in the later process. Deburring operations are time and money-consuming processes, which badly affect the automatic pipeline manufacture and metal cutting process. Combination with experiments and simulations, this paper does a deep research on burr formation, which focused on different materials and different cutting method, (such as turning, milling and drilling), and then several active control methods to minimize burr size are presented in the end.By inducing difference and similarity between burr and chip formation in the metal cutting process, this paper concludes that burr formation because the heavily plastic deformation of material when the tool achieves the end of workpiece. In macroscopic view, burr produces due to the appearing of the fortieth deformation zone; in microscopic view, it produces due to weakness of support strength in the end of the workpiece, the particles of the material do slip and dislocation all the time, the chip rotates around a point and then burr produces.Secondly, according to the theory analysis, this paper does lots of...
