Potassium ferrate is a new water treatment reagent developed since 1970s, which has the novel properties of oxidation, flocculation, disinfection and deodorization. In this article, it optimized the technics of preparation of potassium ferrate(VI) and researched the uses of ferrate(VI) in the removal of bio-resistant organic pollutants. At first, potassium ferrate was made by double alkali method and single alkali method based on oxidizing of hypochlorite oxidation method. And then the article compares the two genus of ferrate synthesized by two methods.Secondly, the article mensurated the purity of potassium ferrate(VI) by classical volumetric titration and then searched the methods of characterization of ferrate(VI) salts by UV-VIS and IR etc.In the end, the article also researched the removal effect and possible mechanism of bio-resistant organic pollutants by chemical oxidation processes of ferrate ion in the water. In addition, the article researched the best reaction time, the best pH and the best ferrate proportion in water treatment on the removal rate of organic pollutants by oxidation of potassium ferrate(VI), by using the instruments of UV-VIS,HPLC and etc..And the article also researched the mechanism of the ferrate degrading the phenol using the method of changing the condition, comparing the standard matter, adding the standard matter, degrading the middle-composition and etc., by using the instrument of HPLC. Also use the method of extraction, evaporation, ion-exchange column and ramification to research the middle-composition of phenol oxidated by ferrate using the instrument of GC-MS.
