Phthalocyanine reverse saturable absorption compounds were systematically studied to search after the new type laser protective materials and their preparation technology. Theory of nonlinear optics and optical limiting technology and types of this kind material were discussed detailed. Among the large number of nonlinear absorbers, the material applied most extensively is phthalocyanine reverse saturable absorption compound which is organic large molecule with central symmetry two-dimensional π -electron conjugate system. In the off-resonance condition, its absorption coefficient will raise along with the increasing of incoming light intensity, which shows its reverse saturable absorption(RSA) properties.In this dissertation, four kinds of metal phthalocyanine were synthesized. The phthalocyanine/PMMA material optical devices were prepared by founding forming method, sliding method and injection method et al. Their reverse saturable absorption properties were studied. We have made benefic trails on the research of optical limiting materials with broad protective wavelength, high optical density and high transmission.
