In this dissertation, four functional monomers with double-bond were incorporated into POSS through the additional reaction of hydridosilanes to prepare the organic/inorganic hybrid functional materials. Their structures and thermal properties were characterized and investigated, respectively. Simultaneously, a series of side-chained functional polymers were synthesis by polymerization reactions and characterized. The work will provide a foundation for the synthesis of star-shaped functional polymer in the future. The main contents were summarized as follows.1. The optical limiting material's development, mechanism and performance requirements were reviewed briefly. And the latest development of polymeric optical limiting materials was summarized in detail. The POSS-based inorganic/organic hybrid material was also introduced here.2. Four objective monomer compounds were synthesized and characterized by FT-IR and 1H-NMR spectra.3. Four organic/inorganic hybrid objective compounds were synthesized through the additional reactions of hydridosilanes (T8H8) and their structures were characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR and UV spectra.4. The thermal properties of four organic/inorganic hybrid objective compounds were measured by DSC and TGA. The effect of nano-size POSS moiety on the thermal property of hybrid materials was discussed.5. The syntheses of two side-chained functional polymers were studied by three different methods. The results showed that two of those methods is effective. And their structures were characterized and analyzed by FT-IR,1H-NMR and UV spectra.
