In the process of manufacturing parts in autolathes, to manufacture different kinds of parts in different types of autolates, It need to replace the cams which control the movement of the knives, because of the different manufacture process. So it will take plenty of time to design the requisite cams. To solve this problem, a cam CAD program is developed for designing the cams of the autolathes.In this paper it develops the AutoCAD to achieve this program with Visual C++ language and ObjectARX(a tool to develop the AutoCAD) together. To achieve the visual design of program platform it uses the MFC technology in ObjectARX. In the aspect of developing program, it designs three main function modules according to the intention of design. They are module of initialization parameter design, module of cam design calculation and module of showing planar graphics. To achieve the enter, chosen, rectification, calculation of parameter and display the cam plot.After compiling the program an ARX file can be created which can be loaded in AutoCAD. After being loaded, the cams design can be finished with the mutual platform, at last the plots of cam outline curve and cams shape can be showed in AutoCAD windows.This program can shorten the period of designing the cams of autolathes, it can also to develop the production efficiency.
