With the innovation and development of modern science and technology, particularthe development of computer technology, the foundry industry has undergone atremendous change, traditional casting and computer are combined more and more close.In such a case, the casting process CAD system slowly evolved from theory to actualproduction applications.Casting technology CAD helps casting process designers determining the castingprogram, optimizing the casting process and mapping the casting process diagram. Itcompletes the entire process between input of parts diagram and output of completeprocess map. Mainly include parting face, joint allowance, machining allowance,technique pad, riser, gating system, chill, sand core, sand box and process description.Casting process CAD system developed in this paper chooses AutoCAD2010as asupport platform and ObjectARX2010as its development tool. The project hascompleted a qualified ductile iron casting process CAD system using ODBC databasedevelopment, MFC interface design and dynamic drag technologies.Relative to the traditional process design method, the system has a modular,streamlined, efficient, no drawings and specialization advantages. Users can easilydesign process in accordance with the process step by step to complete the designing.Each process step has a separate module, part of the module will involve large amountsof data and tedious calculations, the system will establish Access database according tothe standard data in the casting process manual and the empirical data, it enables users toget accurate data fast and improve work efficiency.
