Land Desertification in Yanchi County is caused by both natural and artificial factors. The major causes resulting in the fast spread of desertification and vegetation degradation originated from the human abuses of the land, and over-cultivation, overgrazing, over-cutting and over-reclamation. Protecting natural vegetation, restoring vegetation and establishing artificial vegetation are main methods to make desert shrink and to promote vegetation restoration. In the recent three decades, a number of Yanchi County vegetation restoration project success. Yanchi County by drawing on experience of other sandy area in the vegetation restoration, in the practice unceasingly tried to find out the innovation, summarizes a series of vegetation restoration models. In this paper uses the methods of scene investigation, the localization observation, the quantitative investigation, the theoretical analysis and the actual result unified, field and laboratory investigations combined. Choosing representative and typical vegetation restoration models (Salix deep forestation on the windward slop of mobile dune, meadow shelterbelt, enclosure management for vegetation restoration) to study deeply and the major results is followed:(1)The models of salix deep forestation on the windward slop of mobile dune achieved good biological benefit, and benefit of improving microclimate and reducing wind. Salix is growing well, which survival rate is high, the vegetation cover on the windward slope of sand dune has a significant increase, the biomass was noticeably improved, species richness index, species evenness index and diversity index all increased significantly, ecological dominance index reduced; the forest effectively lowered air temperature, and soil surface temperature, enhanced the air humidity, cushioned the sudden diurnal variation of temperature and humidity; surface roughness in the forest is significantly higher than before, windproof benefit at the height of 50cm an 200cm respectively is 36.09% and 25.55%.(2) The model of meadow shelterbelt improved the ecological environment, increased the yield, and achieved a significant ecological benefit, reducing wind benefit, and Soil improvement benefit. The gross biomass in meadow shelterbelt was significantly higher than natural grasslands, species richness index, species evenness index and diversity index all increased significantly, ecological dominance index reduced, the vegetation community structure gradually changed from simplicity to sophistication, vegetation cover notability increased; soil s bulk density decreased, soil porosity increased, the nitrogen, available phosphorus, organic matter, and available potassinum. Byconducting a deep study of plant transpiration and the increment of soil water storage, planting shrub along two lines (1m x 2.0m spacing, with 10m spacing) is the appropriate level of density, meadows shelterbelt is in a stable situation.(3) After implement the enclosure management for vegetation restoration, the gross biomass was significantly higher than natural grasslands, species richness index, species evenness index and diversity index all increased significantly, ecological dominance index reduced, the vegetation community structure gradually changed from simplicity to sophistication, degraded vegetation has made a rapid recovery in a relatively short period of time.Based on the research results, countermeasures of vegetation restoration are brought out in this article.
