The Bailonggang sewage disposal plant in Shanghai adopts with CEPT (Chemically enhanced processing technology). Its primary designed treatment capacity is 1700kt/d, and it produces almost 300t dry weight of sludge. When the sludge has the moisture content (MC) within 65% and the volume is about 800m3, the plant plans to apply landfill technology to deal with the dewatered sludge, and then after five years' stacked, the stabilized and mature sludge will be used as fertilizer. However, the black smell sludge is always thickness and compact and contents harmful matters such as pathogenic microorganism and parasitic ovum and so on. What's more, because of its unstable property, it should be handled at once. However, because the sludge has low organism (50%), large quantity, high adhesive strength and high MC, the landfill technology is applied difficultly. If the sludge is managed improperly, it would decay and produce odor and explosive gases. Then it causes environmental pollution and potential safety hazard. Moreover, there is no successful example of landfill technology at present in our country, so the technology of handling the sludge faces grimness challenge.Arming at these problems, the main goal of this article is to explore preconditioning working parameters of enhanced processing technology of aeration composting on sludge. Use the high-temperature and aeration composting technology and make the sludge stabilized quickly. And then bases on the landfill as the quadratic fermentation place, the landfill technology takes the advantages of smaller occupation of land and shorter land filling time. At the same time, it conquers the problems that the primary sludge landfill technology has not been solved.After doing lots of experiments, we analyzed the characteristics of the enhanced processing sludge, proved that the application of composting to treat the enhanced processing sludge preliminarily is feasible, and investigated the basic law of composting, explored the process parameters and equipments of compost. And the microbial effects in composting, the control of ventilation and the reclamation of clinker in composting are also especially studied in this article.A profitable probe in handling the abundant sludge from Bailonggang according to the actual condition of handling CEPT sludge technology may benefit the handling technology of sludge and innovate the technology of CEPT sludge composting in Shanghai.
