It's service life and safety have great effect on the normal iron making. How to measure the thickness of inner lining of ladle on line is a common question for all of researchers.According to the actual structure and materials of the ladle of one plant, the heat transfer mathematical model in three-dimension was established. The temperature fields of inner lining and steel structure of different lining thicknesses were calculated by CFD software. The result indicates that there is a corresponding relationship between temperature of steel shell and the thickness of inner lining .The temperatures of steel shell will rise with the thickness of inner lining decreasing and servicing time increasing. The temperatures of steel shell of ladle and corresponding residual thickness of inner lining were measured. By comparing them with the calculated results, it indicates that calculating results are corresponding to measuring results and the mathematical model is correct. According to measuring results of the temperatures of steel shell and inner lining thickness, the relationships between temperatures of steel shell and corresponding inner lining thickness and the law of creating errors, the calculated results was amended in different area on steel shell. A datums bank about relationship between temperature of steel shell and the thickness of inner lining was obtained. It laid a foundation for monitoring damage degree of inner lining through infrared image technology.
