This paper bases on studing the first twelve strand tundish of continuous caster in domestic which consists of double six strand tundish in special-asymmetry type. This structure lead to dishomogeneous flow field in the tundish and affect the steel quality, so it is very significant to research on."Stimulate-Response"technology is applied in the organic glass model with the ratio of 1:3 to analyse the average residence time (ART) and the fluid flow pictures, also to research on the critical height and floating ratio of inclusion by the theoretical and experimental method. Moreover, this paper introduces a special independence-inventing power conversion(impact channel), and deeply analyse the shape feature of asymmetrical tundish. The conditions are obtained as follows:(1)This twelve-strand tundish is special asymmetrical. In the condition of empty tundish, The ART in the model equals to 595 seconds, and the maximum ART difference(â–³tz) is 546 seconds which equals to 946 seconds in the practical tundish. Therefore, the fluid flow and temperature are not homogeneous. The response time (tr) in strand 1 is 153 seconds, while tr in strand 6 is only 43 seconds, the differences exist between these two exit nozzles. Additionally, the proportion of dead volume reaches 26.8%, so the most important thing is to solve these two difficulties.(2)This paper especially designs a power conversion. This equipment can apply the forth -coming resource to change potential energy to kinetic energy without additional power. The experimental result of power conversion shows the response time is reduced to 30 seconds, and the maximum ART difference is reduced to 128 seconds.(3)In the condition of the best plan H, the maximum ART difference is 48 seconds which have achieved prospective goal. Asymmetrical degree of the tundish is 0.489, If there is no flow control devices, the asymmetrical degree of tundish is 0.832. In addition, the floating of inclusion is improved from 74.5% to 87.5%, and the proportion of dead volume is reduced from 26.8% to 10.9%, so the fluid flow and the temperature field are more homogeneous.(4)Because of many other factors such as the slag's thickness etc, the critical height should be more than 100mm in the practical process. |
