Plate and strip is very significant for the national economy, and this is especially true for medium and heavy plate. Roll wear on plate and strip rolling mills is one of the factors that are difficult to be accurately controlled in the rolling process. The roll wear destroys original roll shape and directly make against the precise control for flatness and profile of plate and strip, and the improvement of plate and strip product quality is seriously restricted by it. In addition, roll wear greatly increases the wastage of rolling rolls. Research on roll wear is very significant for the improvement of rolling mills'control level and the amelioration of product quality. In the domain of medium and heavy plate production, roll wear and its mathematic model of plate rolling mills is one of the problems that are urgent to be thoroughly researched.This dissertation elaborated the mechanism and characteristic of roll wear and made an analysis of the modality and influence factors of roll wear, and the characteristics of rolling technics and roll wear of plate rolling mills were summarized. The model of slippage between plate and roll surface in deformation area was founded to calculate the slippage distance. With consideration of the influence factors, the roll wear model of plate rolling mills was founded. This model start off from the tribology principle, and take the quantitative analysis of friction movement in rolling process as a premise. It avoids the limitation and shortcoming of general models'simplex statistical regress according to measured data.The unknown parameters of roll model were classified to three categories. The calculation methods of all kinds of technics parameter were researched systematically, and the calculation results were given. Based on the actual data from production scene, the specific model parameters were optimized using genetic algorithms, and the optimization results were given. The simulation andexamination was done to the roll wear model to testify its correctness and practicability.The research idea and achievements of roll wear and its mathematic model in this dissertation have comprehensive academic guidance significance for the research on other types of plate and strip rolling mills, and they have certain engineering practicality importance for plate and strip production.
