Channel section steel is a kind of economic cross section steel which is widely used in many fields such as automobile, aviation, light industry, machinery manufacture and construction. The market needs high quality products with accurate dimension and form. The developed industrial countries are using universal method to produce channel steel and it can produce kinds of high-class products with dimensions. But our country still are using the method of designing pass on rolls of which disadvantages lead to limitations on the dimensions and form accuracy. Vast scale special channel steels are depending on import. By improving the production method and updating the product quality only, the section industry would progress in our country.This article systematically introduced the condition of section producing and the development of analogue simulation technology in our country, installed edge conditions for the simulation of channel steel milling based on rigid-plastic FEM system, designed universal rolling method of which the lower roll is driving and the upper roll and vertical rolls are following. The process of rolling special channel steel with universal milling is simulated in use of the FEM software, by which the non-rationality of the roll parameters are discovered and new rational scheme is presented. Five passes of channel steel universal rolling are simulated in use of the new suitable model by DEFORM. Then the distributions of draught pressure, unit draught pressure on the web along cross direction, temperature field and effective stress are analyzed in detail. The article represents the importance of edge milling to the universal rolling, analyses the influence of different edge milling rules on the accuracy of leg dimension and form of the channel steel.Powerful post-processing function of DEFORM-3D can provide abundant information that physical experiment can not get, such as resistance of deformation, temperature field, strain rate, we can analyze and compare it facilities, and we can drawn useful conclusions, guide actualproduction.
