This paper reviews domestic and overseas developments of the non-asbestos friction material, as well as the testing methods and evaluation standards. Some mechanism, such as friction mechanism, wearing mechanism, heat decline mechanism and heat chap mechanism are intensively analyzed. After studied the raw materials, non-asbestos fiber, adhesion, rubber, friction performance regulator, recipe, product technics and equipment, SX1650 compound yarn of glass fiber and CK1500 cope spun yarn were selected as non-asbestos fiber for experiments. The tough and heat-resistant cashew shell-modified resin was used as adhesive, Furthermore, a kind of mixture of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) and nitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR), and friction performance regulator in proportion were used as main materials. Soaking-Drying Tower technique was employed to produce the non-asbestos friction material. Then in comparison this product to the same kind of product from abroad, the results from the mechanical properties, bursting strength, wearing performance, DMS tester and CHASE tester showed that non-asbestos friction material of complex fiber can be able to improve complex performance, be stable friction performance , resist decay and reduce wearing rate of materials obviously. For its environmental protection, safety and wearing-resist, this product is a desirable non-asbestos friction material and it has a splendid market in the future.
