To accommodate the increasing glolalization and competitive pressure, the government has establishedSince the period of 1980s,many distribution centers were established to satisfy the emerging needs from diversifying industries. However, most of them were thansformed from the traditional warehousing facilities with little systematic methodology available for the design process. In addition, most of the distribution centers were designed for domestic production process only, rather than to handle the international goods and global operation process. This research is to propose a systematic methodology for international distribution center design. The methodology includes five stages. The first stage is to identify and define the objectives and roles, goods handled and operations involed, and potential customers for the international distribution center. The second stage is for data collection and information analysis. Three groups of informational will be managed (1) government regulations and legal issues, (2)customer demand information, (3)operation modules,The operation process and functional capacities will be decided by utilizing the collected information. The third stage is generate design proposals through four step: (l)activity relationship analysis, (2)space needs determination, (3)material handling system design, (4)support facilities design. The fourth stage is to do evaluation with respect to each programmed select one with maximum preference. The first stage is executive the design proposal and maintain its performance level in order to avoid outside disturbance . The result obthined in this research would provide a systematic design methodology with sufficient detailed information for the international distribution center design, which is first developed could be useful for designers and managers in industry practice.
