Fiber-reinforced resin matrix composites become the popular ballistic protective equipment material for its excellent performance and comfortable characteristics. This kind of material is compounded using soft fibers and suitable resin matrix and formed plate or sheet after heat compression. High-performance resin matrix composites technology is focused on the high strength, high rigidity and multifunctional use under hot and humid environment. Resin matrix act as one of the most important element in the composite materials. Its property, content, and interface between fibers and resin will have a direct impact on the ultimate mechanical properties of composite materials. The resin must join with fiber elongation, fracture to maximize the absorption of impact energy and have a high elongation and good flame retardancy meanwhile. It is difficult to meet the requirement of high performance composite materials using a single resin. Therefore, more and more attention were payed to developing a new type of matrix resin or modifying the conventional resin. In this thesis, we choose ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) as the fiber used in the fiber-reinforced resin matrix composite and investigated the modifications of its suitable resin matrix - thermoplastic elastomer SEBS block copolymer which attracted a great deal of interesting in academic and commercial fields for its outstanding performances such as good stability, good heating resistance. The main content and conclusions of the paper are as follows:The article thoroughly investigated the modification effects of high density polyethylene (HDPE) and linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) to thermoplastic elastomer SEBS resin matrix. And the processability and mechanical properties of SEBS/...
