Based on studying the properties and macrostructure of modified SEBS elastomer system, the effect of processing techniques including screw configuration, screw speed, processing temperature etc is researched. At the same time, the relationship between the content of PP, microstructure and properties of these blends is studied. Accordingly, the design of specific material can be supervised and achieved.Based on principles of processing techniques using twin-screw extruder and screw configuration, combining special process ability of SEBS/PP thermoplastic elastomer, four screw configurations are designed through changing configuration order or increasing/decreasing kneading blocks and flight elements. And SEBS/PP materials are processed using these four different configurations. It is followed that the mechanical properties of SEBS/PP thermoplastic materials, such as mechanical properties, restoring properties, rheological properties, varied with different screw configuration. The screw configuration is optimized to fit the special process ability of SEBS/PP material. The study also indicates that the processing effect has been evidently improved by adding mix-rotors to twin-screw extruder. The macrostructure of SEBS/PP material has been studied by SEM and thermo-polarize microscope. It can be concluded that the morphology of blends is related to the screw configuration, and a basic relationship between microstructure and properties of these blends is set up.In addition, under the optimized screw configuration, it is studied in this paper that the properties of SEBS/PP material change with content of PP. More, the relationship between content of PP, morphology, and properties is set up.
