In our country, bevel gear shapers are mainly used to machine straight bevel gears conventionally. However, if the bevel angle of the gear approaches to 90 °, it is difficult to machine it.In this thesis, the research on new machining method of bevel gears is presented. The technology of straight bevel gear manufacturing is combined with the NC machine, based on the powerful modeling function and related interface technologies of VC++ software. The parameter input interface and data file transmission channel are created successfully.All the works done are as follows: First of all, the facer(the cutting tool) model can be produced and the tool library is also created with the UG software. The mathematic model is established according to the configuration and type of the facer and the character of gear. The parameterized cutter location file then is edited with the theory of the flat top of gear and the technique of generating manufacturing. After that, simulation of cutting process in the UG environment is successfully carried out. Finally, the NC codes can be produced with a special technology of post processing.
