Straight bevel gears are widely used in automobiles, motorcycles and engineering machines, and the mainly means for their mass produce is precision forging. In order to solve the problems such as the complicated adjusting process, the difficulty in ensuring precision and so on in machining mould electrodes today, it is necessary to apply CAD/CAM technique to the manufacture of mould electrodes.This thesis studies the algorithms of the tool path generation for NC milling. Based on the computer geometrical models of straight bevel gears built, a iso-parametric tool path algorithms which was fit for the machining of multiple surfaces has been designed. The algorithms can solve the problems which exist in machining multiple non-rectangle parameter surfaces and avoid the calculation of sufaces intersection. In order to fit the high speed milling, a new tool path strategy has also been worked out. The new slick tool path eliminates the abruptly change of direction.In order to eliminate the affect in installation and make the gear equably bear the load, it is necessary to make profile modifying of gear. In this thesis a profile modifying model is built, and the NC tool path can be modified according to the modification parameters in the process of NC programming. The method is adapt to the manufacture of involute and revacycle straight bevel gear.
