Emulsion polymerization is a reaction system which can be characterized as a low-viscosity, good-heat-transference, and at the same time, the environment friendly. Acrylate latex is one of the most important polymers, however, acrylate based polymers possess poor performance at higher temperature. The utilization of monomers carrying fluorine atoms which have higher bonding energy and lower surface energy to modify the acrylate latex can markedly improve and enhance those properties for acrylate polymers, and to date, it has become one of the most important research directions in this field. In this thesis, the development of emulsion polymerization theory and related new technologies are comprehensively reviewed, and the synthetic technologies of acrylate latex modified by monomers with fluorine both at home and abroad are also reviewed. Based on the current research development in this field, we synthesized copolymer latex containing DFBA, butylacrylate, methyl methacrylate segments, and the latex containing TFEA, butylacrylate, methyl methacrylate segments, respectively. The experiments were conducted using two different technologies which are so-called as batch-feeding and semi-continuance feeding methods. The effects of different technologies and reaction kinetics of copolymer latex were studied. The structures and properties of copolymers synthesized were characterized by infrared spectroscopy, thermal gravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. The results of mechanical, interface, water-resistance properties confirmed that the copolymer containing fluorine atoms perform much better compared with copolymer without containing fluorine. On the other hand, polyethylene adipate glycol, toluene diisocyanate, dimethylol propionic acid were used as monomers to synthesize polyurethane prepolymer on which the polymer chains carry hydrophilic groups. The polyester based anionic waterborne polyurethane latex was obtained through special hydrolysis technique. The influence of temperature, the ratio of -NCO versus -OH groups, and the content of hydrophilic group on the mechanical property, water-resistance and Tg of the polymers were discussed. The suspension polymerization which takes the water as the medium appears a low viscosity with low polymerization temperature, and its quality of the products showing stable. Compared with the emulsion polymerization, the polymers obtained via...
