With Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0, This article develops the temperature field simulation software of casting solidification process by using the object-oriented programming method under the Windows environment. The software includes three parts: the pre-process, the middle computation and the post-process, which has the functions of three-dimensional model demonstration, grid cutting in half, temperature field computation, grid cutting in half result demonstration, temperature field demonstration and so on. The software application situation indicated that the software reflected heat transfer rule in the casting solidification process basically, and forecasted the position of shrinkage cavities and shrinkage porosities effectively which provided some dependencies on improving casting process, and it has certain serviceability.The thermal parameters of quartz sand which used in lost foam casting process and water glass bonded sand which used in ordinary sand casting process were determined by using casting method. It got the changing rule of specific heat and heat conductivity with changing of temperature of the two sands by establishing one-dimensional non-stable state heat transferring model, comparing interpolation of the numerical calculated temperature value and the measured temperature value of the reference point, establishing n nonlinear equation, changing the problem from the solution of thermal parameters into extreme of the function. Putting the physical parameters into the software and comparing the result of simulation and reality show that casting method is a utility method of measuring the actual thermal parameters of sands, which provides a more feasible option for getting thermal parameters of materials whose thermal parameters are difficult to obtain directly.This paper simulated and compared the temperature field of rolling mortar at different time in solidification process under lost foam casting process and ordinary sand casting process. It proved that the differences of temperature field between the two processes was not caused by the difference of thermal parameters of the sands, but caused by the differences of casting processes. The shrinkage cavities and shrinkage porosities were formed easily because the feeding action of riser was bad under lost foam casting process, and the feeding action of riser was well because of the chill block under sand casting process which can decrease the probability of forming the shrinkage cavities and shrinkage porosities.
