Methyl 3-(3-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) propionate ( MBHPP ) is a very important organic intermediate in fine chemical engineering. With its special structure, it can be used to synthesize kinds of organic compounds such as stabilizers, colorants, photo-materials, and medical intermediates, which widely apply to the fields of macromolecule material, presswork, additives, dye and medicine. And it exhibits a profound commercial value.The industrial routine to synthesize MBHPP was determinate selectively by catalytical de-tert-butylation of Methyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) propionate (MDBHPP) in this thesis. Among lots of solid acid catalysts, C2 catalyst was the best suitable catalyst in the reaction system. And the technologic conditions were optimized: temperature 160℃, catalyst content 1.0% ( based on the raw material, wt), pressure 35mmHg, time 2.5h, in which the yield of MBHPP was up to 93.7~95.7%. Besides, the characterization of MBHPP and the byproduct Methyl 3-(4-hydroxyphenyl) propionate (MHPP) were qualitatively analyzed by 1HNMR and IR.The kinetic of the reaction was investigated and simulated and the kinetic constants such as the consecutive reactions frequency factor and activation energy were measured:k01=8.38×107,E1=63.102 kJ/mol,k02=5.76×108,E2=83.84kJ/mol. Thus, the kinetic equations could represent the reaction rate expression.It was revealed that it was a consecutive reaction within the theory of carboniumion, and it was discussed and verified based on the kinetic research.
