Abstract/Summary:
For their widely application, thermoresponsive shape memory polymers have been a hot subject in research and development of shape memory polymers. In this paper, the preparation method of thermoresponsive shape memory fibers was studied. The shape memory fibers were spun and drawn and their structures and characteristics were studied by a variety of test method. The copolymer P(SA-co-AA) was firstly synthesized by copolymerization of stearyl scrylate(SA) and refined Acrylic Acid(AA). Furthermore, P(SA-co-AA) and Polyvinyl Alcohol(PVA) were mixed for wet spinning. The filaments crosslinked in coagulation bath and were drawn in Na2SO4 solution. The structures and performance of P(SA-co-AA) and mixed fibers with different drawing ratio were studied by FTIR, GPC, X-ray, DSC and DMA. The results indicated that, with the increasing of drawing ratio, the rupture strength of fibers increased and the swelling ratio of them decreased. The crystal of fibers hardly changed and the crystal melting peak temperature and glass-transition temperature increased. The module of fibers increased a lot and changed remarkably at 60℃.By testing the shape memory characteristics of fibers, the shape reversion ratio increased with the increasing drawing ratio and ambient temperature. The fibers with drawing ratio=4 could restore more than 98% of their original shape in 25 seconds. The fabric sample could restore their original shape in 32 seconds.
