Titanium pillared montmorillonite(Ti-PILCs) possesses particular macroporous structure,with excellent physical and chemical performance such as large specific area surface,high thermal stability,good catalytic activity and photosensitivity,and so on. It attracts people's great attention in recent years,and shows wide application prospect in the fields of petroleum catalysis,environment protection,industry of fine chemicals and material science,etc.The paper has introduced synthesization,characterization and acid catalysis performance research of Ti-PILCs. Under appropriate technical conditions,a Ca-bentonite ore from Eastern Hubei province has been beneficiated by wet sedimentation separation process with sodium pyrophosphate as modification agent,producing an ultrapure Na-montmorillonite(value of d001 1.28nm) with fine performance,then using it for matrix,a Ti-PILC has been synthesized. Experiments have also characterized Ti-PILCs by dint of XRD,Aperture,TG-DSC and SEM analyses,etc.,and make preliminary research on its formation mechanism.The results indicate that:a Ti-PILC with value of d001 of 3.94nm and productivity of 2.06g/g(stuff),can be gained from Na-montmorillonite upon the elementary conditions that ratio of Ti to clay 20mmol/g,molar ratio of H to Ti 2.0mol/mol,volume ratio of acetone to water 2:1,etc.,when montmorillonite suspension concentration has been raised to 0.83% through reducing amount of water merely,by using Ti(C4H9O)4 as titanium source through the sol-gel process,and the specific area surface also increases from 31.6m2/g of Na-montmorillonite to 410.4m2/g accordingly,and on the premises that montmorillonite granules can disperse well,the productivity of Ti-PILCs varies directly with volume of acetone or volume ratio of acetone to water as a whole. The material mostly contains mesopores within 2nm to 4nm,and possesses good thermal stability. When calcined at 800℃for 2 hours,oxidizing atmosphere,the value of d001 and specific area surface of Ti-PILCs still reach 3.55nm and 362.5m2/g respectively,interbedded ordered degree rises,and pore structure tends towards regularity. Some indicators of the experimental products have taken the lead in the same field at home. Using Ti-PILCs as solid acid catalyst in preparation of diphenylethane,a Friedel-Crafts probe reaction,the productivity of diphenylethane can reach 86.33% supremely,which shows that Ti-PILCs possesses good acid catalytic performance,and has provided experience for promoting its application in the field of solid acid catalysis.
