Inorganic bactericides are developed rapidly in recent years and have a wide-ranging application perspective. Nano silver molybdate is a new type of inorganic bactericide, which has the advantages of high security, good-controlled release and durability, broad antibacterial spectrum, no drug resistance, heat endurance and fabricating convenience. In present, the preparation methods of inorganic antimicrobial, anti-bacterial mechanism and measuring methods of antimicrobial performance has never been reported. In this paper, the relationship between the solubility and temperature of silver acetate and silver molybdate were systematically studied. The process route and conditions of fabricating nano silver molybdate were determined. Then the samples of nano silver molybdate was prepared with silver acetate by homogenous precipitation method. FTIR analysis was used to characterize the products. The grain size of the samples was measured by X-ray diffraction analysis. The antimicrobial performance was tested by photoelectric colorimetry. FTIR analysis proves that the samples are silver molybdate, X-ray diffraction analysis indicates that the minimum grain size of the samples is 38.3nm. The anti-bacterial performance of nano silver molybdate in PE was tested by photoelectric colorimetry and the relationship of bactericide content and anti-bacterial time was studied. The results show that its anti-bacterial performance enhances gradually with the increase of bactericide content with the same measuring time. The anti-bacterial performance enhances with the anti-bacterial time with fixed content of bactericide. The results of Antimicrobial performance show that the anti-bacterial performance of nano silver molybdate is far superior to that of common silver molybdate.
