In this paper, the new generation plain air quality model and the coastal dispersion model were comprehensively considered in aspects of model parameters and model settings using model quality evaluation method, and then they were indicated with the quantified measure. At the mean time, engineering checking computations which were calculated with conventional observation and observed meteorological data were statistically analyzed; After all, we proposed the advice on air quality model system appropriate to China's costal area.Comparisons were done among four plain air quality models, including HPDM, PPSP, AMS and EIA. It shows that HPDM model is much better on dispersion scheme and parameters, boundary parameter and other parameters. We also use observed data to verify the four models, results show that HPDM is more moderate. The concentration disputations were got using Engineering checking computations in 34 different source compound forms and 200 different meteorology condition compound forms. The HPDM model shows a better performance on simulation disability. The verification result is consistent with moderate analysis. Meanwhile, HPDM model also needs some further improvements, such as a much more moderate computation scheme of mixed layer height and a more active scheme of smoke penetration. We also give some schemes for model improvements.The comparison of the five coastal dispersion models (GLUMP, VAN DOP, Misra, Deardorff and Stunder) shows that Misra model is more reasonable on theoretical derivation, which simulates the whole dispersion process with the uniform formulary to guaranty the continuity of the whole concentration field. The model become more applicable after parameterize its dispersion parameter. Then we make use of the results of the fumigation experiment, which was done by State Power Environmental Protection Research Institute in Beilun Power Plant nearby bay of Hangzhou to evaluate the models. We chose a quantified evaluation of air quality model capability commended by Willmott(1982). It shows that the Misra model has a better performance on observed data verification and model evaluation than other models, which is consistent with former researches.According to the capability evaluation of the new generation plain air quality models and coastal dispersion models, Misra model and HPDM model have better performance. They can do a better simulation of the coastal air pollution dispersion, transportation and distribution. Lastly, we presented the primary advice of air quality model system appropriate to the costal area in China.
