Radix platycodonis is a traditional Chinese medicine,which was firstly documented in"Shen Nong's herbal classic". Radix platycodonis is distributed in most parts of China. Inrecent years, as a medicinal and edible Chinese medicine, Radix platycodonis attract widespread attention at home and abroad for its pharmacological activities in immuneregulation, anti-inflammatory, analgesic,antipyretic,expectorent, antilipemic, protectivecholesterol-lowering, etc. The modern pharmacological research shows that Platycodinas the main active ingredient in Radix platycodonis,has broad bioactivities,it plays a decisive role in the efficacy of the medicine.Guangxi, as one of the main origin, has plenty of Chinese herbal plants.Resentlyartificially planting radix platycodonis in Guangxi begins to flourish.To fully exert theadvantage of Guang xi, promote the development of Chinese Drugs and the formationof the industry chain, it is very necessary and urgent to find an efficient,energy-saving,environmental-protecting process of the preparation ofplatycodin.Therefore,the processof extracting and purifing the active ingredient platycodin from Guangxi radixplatycodonis was studied in this paper. The main contents are as followed:(1) Firstly, through the comparation of three different extracting methods, ethanolreflux extraction is an ideal process.After the single-factor test,the optimistic processethanol reflux extraction was decided through the orthogonal test.Besides,Theextraction process of platycodin by ultrasonic using ethanol as solvents was studied toobtain the optimistic process.(2) In this paper.,macroporous adsorption resin was used to purify the platycodin.The optimistic purification process were obtained through the research on main factorseffecting the adsorption and desorption process.The characteristics of the study are: (1) the process of ethanol reflux extracting-purifying platycodin by macroporous adsorption resin from Guangxi Radix platycodnisis obtained for the first time. (2) The extraction process of platycodin by ultrasonic using ethanol as solvents was firstly studied (3) Spectrophotometry instead of thetraditional gravimetric method was used as the quantitative analysis in the study.The study is commissioned by College of Medical, Guangxi Traditional MedicalUniversity and is funded by the Key Project of Guangxi Province(0424008—2G).The research has a certain practical application value for the development of Guangxiradix platycodonis and theoretical value for the same kind of research.
